Librarians’ Day Celebrated at TCE, Gadag

Gadag, August 12, 2025:The Library and Information Centre of Tontadarya College of Engineering (TCE), Gadag, celebrated Librarians’ Day on August 12, 2025, to mark the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.

On this occasion, Librarian Dr. M. B. Uttarkar delivered an enlightening address on the life and contributions of Dr. Ranganathan, highlighting his pivotal role in shaping the library profession in the country.

As part of its annual tradition to promote and encourage the library profession, the TCE Library honours outstanding library professionals each year. This year, Smt. Akkamahadevi Hiremath, Librarian at Basaveshwar Degree College, Gadag, and Mr. Kalakappa Sudi, Library Helper, TCE, Gadag, were felicitated by Dr. M. M. Awati, Principal, TCE, Gadag, in the presence of faculty members.

The event was graced by distinguished academicians including Dr. G. D. Revankar, Dr. D. M. Goudar, Prof. Jagadishwar S, Dr. Ashini Arali, Prof. Sunilgouda S. Patil, Prof. Praveen Jyoti, Prof. Snehalata H, Dr. Jayashree Radder Prof. Bharat, Prof. Veena K, Prof. Soumya P, Prof. Anusha Kulkarni, Prof. Vijayalaxmi, and many others.

Library staff members Mr. Shivakumar A and Mr. Sharanappa Neeli Mr. S. S. Hiremath, Mr. S. S. Ronad, actively contributed to the success of the function. The celebration reflected the institution’s continued commitment to recognising and promoting excellence in the field of library and information science.
